Aloha Everyone!
We have just concluded our 10th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon and we couldn’t be more proud of how the event has evolved! We truly appreciate the support and commitment from all the runners as they have come from all 50 states and at least 35 countries since our inaugural event in 2009. Another milestone we’re proud of is the charitable giving component of the race. After this years donations, we will have contributed almost $150,000 to local charities on Kauai, along with over $32,000,000 in economic impact over the the span of the event.
Some of the highlights from this year’s event were the record number of participants at 2,276, the best weather ever, Tyler McCandless breaking his record in the half marathon, the 61 runners who participated in all 10 years and last but not least, we emptied 13 kegs of beer at the finish line!
This year really felt like all of our hard work, planning and experience from the last 10 years has built an event that is enjoyed by runners and walkers alike. We have always strived to improve upon the past event and this year felt like we reached the top. Even the community support along the course outdid themselves – as if that was even possible! They are definitely a big part of the heart and soul of The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon.
So I just want to extend a huge mahalo to all the participants, volunteers and neighbors cheering along the course, spectators, paid staff, and of course our wonderful sponsors. See you on Sunday September 1, 2019 for the 11th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon!
Warmest aloha,
Jeff Sacchini, Race Founder
