The 16th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon is an international running event that attracts visitors and fitness enthusiasts from around the world.
The 3-day event begins with a Sports and Fitness Expo and VIP Reception on Friday, followed by a Keiki (children’s) Run and Family Fun Run on Saturday.
The main event, the half and full marathon begin on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 6 am.
Since the inaugural event, The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon has hosted 12,789 participants from the mainland, 1,475 international runners, 4,300 from the neighbor islands and 9,356 from the island of Kauai. Approximately 60% were women between the ages of 25 and 45.
The direct economic impact over the fifteen years has equated to over $48 million according to the County of Kauai and The Kauai Marathon 501c3 has donated over $280,000 to local charities and non-profit entities.
Numerous local sponsors have supported the event from its inception including the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, Kauai Coffee, Wilcox Health, and Kauai Visitors Bureau. Other local businesses have offered financial and in kind support including Alaska Airlines, Koloa Landing Resort, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Nukumoi Surf Co., Puka Dog and Holo Holo Boat Charters to name a few.
This extraordinary event provides the perfect 3-day adventure for residents and visitors to experience Kauai’ s aloha spirit. Between the hundreds of volunteers who assist with race day duties to the Hawaiian blessing, Polynesian entertainment and cultural experiences along the course.
