Virtual Event Registration Soars to Nearly 1,000 Runners from Around the World
12th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon
While we were not able to be together for the 12th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon, the Garden Island was celebrated, and aloha shared around the world with a virtual race platform.
Nearly 1,000 runners signed up from 40 States and 9 countries to enjoy the magic of the Garden Isle. The Aloha State was well represented with 450 local registrants of whom 331 were from Kauai. Additionally, there were 41 registrants who participated in the full or half marathon for the 12th year in a row.
All participants received race swag and Kauai themed goodies while having the opportunity to run or walk their race in the safety of their home state/country. From September 1-6, 2020 virtual race participants could complete the marathon or half marathon mileage continuously, on the same day, on the route and time of their choosing. Times were uploaded to raceentry.com and the full results are listed here.
Jason Figura of Pittsburg, PA is on the top of the leaderboard for the full marathon with a time of 3:27:51. Sonia Ho of Oakdale, CA is third overall and the top female finisher with a time of 3:31:28.
It is a family affair for the leaders in the half marathon. Multi-year Champion Tyler McCandless of Boulder, CO clocked in at 1:09:44 while his wife Kristin is in the third spot overall and first for the female division with a time of 1:36:37.
Kauai’s top finishers are Brandon Jacinto and Agnes Largo for the Full Marathon and Landon McCaleb and Kasey Ozaki in the Half Marathon.
The virtual event could not have been a success without the support of our local sponsors.
