We are writing with a Friday morning update regarding Hurricane Lowell and this weekend’s Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon.
Current forecast status
As of this morning, the official forecast cone of uncertainty does not include the island of Kauai. We continue to monitor National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service products closely, because tropical forecasts can change rapidly.
Our priority
The safety of our community and our participants is our utmost concern. Race operations, course conditions, transportation, and public-safety capacity will be reviewed continuously with County of Kauai officials and emergency partners. No decision about weekend activities will be made without that safety review.
What this means right now
- The race remains scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. HST, pending further weather and public-safety guidance.
- Friday Expo hours and Saturday activities are proceeding as planned unless we notify you otherwise.
- Even if the storm center remains west of Kauai, swell, rain, and wind can still affect the island. Please follow local advisories for surf, flooding, and travel.

Our next comprehensive update from the County will take place at 7am HST on Saturday, September 5th. We will update runners accordingly upon further information.
