For a decade, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler has proudly partnered with The Kauai Marathon, welcoming runners and visitors to beautiful Poipu with great food and genuine Hawaiian hospitality.

Family-owned and operated since 1984, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler was founded by Bob and Christine French and has become one of Kauai’s favorite gathering places for locals and visitors alike. Today, their legacy continues through their son, Hoku Gordines, General Manager, and their daughter, Chef Jessica Owen, who leads the team with fresh island-inspired cuisine.

Celebrate race weekend with Brennecke’s signature favorites, including fresh ahi poke, sashimi, seared ahi, fresh grilled fish, ribeye steaks, our new bacon pineapple burger, fish and chips, world famous Mai Tai and much more. For a quick bite, stop by the Snack Shack next to Puka Dog for grab-and-go plate lunches, giant pretzels, shave ice, and refreshing drinks.

Special Marathon Weekend features Pre-race Carbo Load on Friday September 4th, and Saturday, September 5th, that include Brennecke’s Signature Shrimp Scampi, Saffron Seafood Risotto, and Kauaʻi Drunken Noodles. Enjoy live music with Jordan Paul on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30–9:30 p.m., along with Shakka Sushi Nights with Chef Drew Rayne Thursday and Friday.

Just next door, visit Nukumoi Surf Co., the French family’s locally owned surf shop, established in 1993. Home to the renowned Rochelle Ballard Surf School, the school has introduced thousands of locals and visitors alike to the joy of surfing on Kaua’i’s South Shore. Led by legendary Hawaii Waterwoman Rochelle Ballard. In 2025 Rochelle was inducted into the Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the sport of women’s surfing while exemplifying Duke Kahanamoku’s enduring spirit of aloha.

Today, Nukumoi Surf Co. is led by Kainoa French and the next generation, Reyna and Lilia Gordines, carrying forward the family’s passion for the ocean and aloha spirit. See you at the beach!
