Aloha,

These last fourteen months have brought the unexpected to all of our lives and we understand that adaptability and movement is key to staying healthy and sane. Liz and I are well aware that you are hopeful for an in-person event in September, and we have been working closely with local and state officials, as well as medical professionals on whether a large gathering is feasible and advisable in September.

The island of Kauai has only recently joined the Safe Travels program on April 5th and it is not known how the influx of visitors will affect our fragile community. Inviting more than 2,000 runners, their families, as well as our production staff to travel during these uncertain times would be imprudent.

After reviewing all of our options, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 13th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon until September 4, 2022. All participant registrations will automatically be deferred to the 2022 race and we promise to make it the best event ever.

In the meantime, if you are interested in connecting with your fellow peers, staying motivated through the spring and summer months while supporting Kauai non-profits, then join us for the Stride for Kauai 100-Mile Challenge. From April 1st to July 31st, virtual participants can complete the 100 miles around the Garden Isle on the route and time of their choosing. With each run or walk, you upload your daily mileage, where you will be able to track your progress on an interactive Kauai map. Once completed, fabulous swag will be mailed to you. Click here for full details of the virtual experience.

We look forward to the time when we can all join together at our gorgeous start line in Poipu. Until then, stay healthy, smile and keep running!

Warmest aloha, Jeff and Liz Sacchini
